Konzert: The Weegs (San Francisco) // support: kinectic crash cooperation
termin: samstag, 15. april, 22.00h
location: cubanova, achtermannstr. 10-12, münster
6 euro (danach schallschutzparty)
The Weegs - Elektronoise - Artpunk - No Wave - Postpunk? - The Weegs schließen sich dem Rat eines Journalisten an: "File this under WHAT THE FUCK?" In der Selbstbeschreibung liest sich das dann so: "we are hard-hitting-cross-genre-bizarro-acting-sexy-tarantesque-motherfuckers from San Francisco".
Info:
"On 'The Million Sounds of Black', the Weegs return to Hungry Eye with a second full length of tripped out distorto-skronk. They take their craggly claw, latch onto early American punk/ post-punk (like Pere Ubu or Devo) and California “no wave” (like Pink Section, Nervous Gender, or Minimal Man), and drag them kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Now even more entrenched in a crypto-sarcastic anonymity that recalls the Residents or the Sun City Girls, their disjointedly pulsing rhythm throbs along with hypnotic bursts of feedback and noise that would do Arto Lindsay proud. This art-damaged racket is still uncannily musical, like some freak-beat psych band gone horribly wrong."

Kinetic Crash Cooperation - Freakjazz Chaos/Hardcore.
"klingt wie slayer+devo"
"kinetic history
the sound of kinetic is as colorful as the background of its members. after sermon, frank's and thorsten's previous band broke up in the beginning of 1999, they started to look for a new guitarist and bassist to complete their line-up. but hailing from a region where the ratio of breweries to hardcore bands is approximately 5:1 and the ratio of cows to hardcore kids roughly 50.000:1, this was no easy feat.
an ad eventually lead to the discovery of manuel, who's varied playing and proto-hipster looks brought the much-needed twang to their sound. shortly thereafter, they recruited oliver, an old high school mate who had spent the previous years dabbling in church-burning and occult worshipping. while his metal mane did not survive past their first practice together, his ferocious mastery of the bass lost none of its power after he signed up with the cooperation.
with the forces of light and darkness united under the welcoming roof of frank's storage backroom, the band began hammering out the first of what would become their trademark screeching and howling tunes, which came to full fruition by the time kinetic puts out its split seven inch ep with the jam session, following several demos and a split ep with the apoplexy twist orchestra (also recently re-issued on cd).
what you get here is a sound that builds on the examples of san diego area bands and a conundrum of other influences, ultimately culminating in a unique mixture of highly-complex rhythmical brashness, with hints of melody that swing effortlessly from discordant to sing-in-the-shower memorable.
over the years, kinetic built a solid following all over germany, appearing in support of all kinds of bands, and the hard-working outfit continues to play out and record frequently, most recently resulting in a split 5'' with the uk's trencher.
after a year-long creative break, great things are once again in the making for kinetic in 2005. keep your eye out for shows and new releases in the near future!"
